This is for any one who has to apply for a passport for their baby in the UK.
These are the prereqs before you read ahead
http://hcilondon.in/passport.php
Fill out the forms, to be wise, fill out 2 copies of the forms. Make sure both the parents sign the forms at the bottom.
Picture that I used for Nimi was 5cmX5cm, white background, both ears visible and try not to get any expression on her face (smile, frown etc). We did a photo shoot at our home with a white bedsheet in the back ground and printed the photo out. Get 4 copies of the photo and take all of them on the day of your application.
Things to take on the day of your application.
You dont have to go in the wee hours of the morning. The coupon machine opens at 8:30AM and the actual service starts at 9:15AM. I reached there at 8:30 and was done by 9:45. Try beating that for time ....
When you reach there, you will see a huge line outside the high commission, dont loose heart. What most of them dont know is that they are in the wrong queue!!!
Walk straight into the High Commission (if there is no queue for it), you will be frisked and then you will see a machine that dishes out Tickets.
Get 2 tickets
You will be asked to pay the fee and then be given a receipt. You will be asked to take a photocopy of the receipt and go to the Passport application counter.
Show the person your middle finger, why the f*** do you need the photocopy, take a picture of the receipt with your highly sophisticated camera and wait for your turn on the Passport Services.
if your turn is already gone, because the A-Hole in consular services did not turn up for his job in time, just go to the counter and wave your Ticket number and he will ask you to come next.
Hand in your passport application form, the receipt that you got from the other counter, any number of photo copies that he asks for (since you have loads), hand over the original docs for verification. Pay the fees, they will give you a confirmation receipt and will tell you the date and time you can go and collect the new passport.
Note - You get back your own passports immediately.
You can now come out of the dungeon ...feeling a bit EPIC about yourself !!
